# Google Business Profile

The free Google listing, and what a complete one includes

A Google Business Profile is the free listing that shows a business's name, location or service area, hours, phone number, photos and reviews in Google Search and Maps. It is what appears in the local pack and on the map, and Google says businesses with complete and accurate information are more likely to show up in local results.

## Why does a Google Business Profile matter for apartment communities?

A renter searching for apartments in a neighborhood sees profiles on the map before any website. A community with its own profile, with photos, hours, a phone number that reaches the leasing office and recent reviews, gives that renter a reason to call or tap through. One without a profile is missing from the map.

For example, a management company runs a single profile for its office, and none for the communities it leases. A renter searching near one of those communities finds the competing buildings on the map, each with photos and a phone number, and never sees the one with open units. A profile per community, each linking to that community's own page, puts it on the map where renters look.

## What should a complete profile include?

1. **The right categories.** A primary category that matches the business, and secondary categories for the rest of what it does.
2. **Accurate core details.** The exact business name, address or service area, phone number, hours and website link, the same as everywhere else.
3. **Real photos.** Current photos of the place, the team and the work, added regularly rather than once.
4. **Services or products.** Every service, so the profile can match more searches.
5. **Reviews and replies.** A steady flow of reviews from real customers, and a reply to each one.
