# How Much Does Google Ads Cost? CPC and Cost-per-Lead Benchmarks for Local Businesses

By [Atisam Elahi](https://kihanmarketing.com/atisam/), SEO Strategist

How much does Google Ads cost? You pay when someone clicks your ad, and you set the budget. In [LocaliQ’s 2026 benchmarks](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/), as of June 2026, the average click cost $5.42 and the average lead cost $66.69 across all industries. Many local trades pay more. The trick is knowing what your own leads will cost.

**Sound familiar?**

- You paid for ads and an agency for months, and the leads never came.
- Google Ads is “a whole different beast to learn,” and you lost thousands working it out on your own.
- Your Performance Max form leads look real until you call. Then the person has “no recollection of ever filling out the form.”
- Google keeps telling you your budget is way too low, and a rep suggests you triple your daily spend.
- In a busy trade, your small daily budget buys only a few clicks a day.

**Key takeaway**

Google Ads has no minimum spend. You pay per click, and in a month you never pay more than 30.4 times your average daily budget. Build your budget from leads, not clicks: the leads you want, divided by your [conversion rate](https://kihanmarketing.com/glossary/conversion-rate/), times your cost per click. Before you raise a budget, check whether you are losing impressions to budget or to rank.

## How Much Does Google Ads Cost?

Google Ads has no set price. You choose your budget, and for Search ads you pay per click. In [LocaliQ’s 2026 benchmarks](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/), as of June 2026, a search ad click cost $5.42 on average across all industries. Google says there is [“no minimum spending commitment”](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/6319) and that you set and control your own budget, as of October 2026. So the real question is what a click and a lead cost in your trade.

The clearest public numbers come from LocaliQ, which publishes its search ad benchmarks with WordStream. The 2026 edition was last updated June 1, 2026. LocaliQ says it used data from “thousands of our customers’ advertising campaigns across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.” So every LocaliQ figure in this guide covers Google Ads and Microsoft Ads search campaigns together. The page does not give a date range or a sample size. Here are its averages across all industries.

**$5.42** is the average cost per click for search ads across all industries in 2026.

**6.64%** is the average click-through rate: the share of people who see a search ad and click it.

**8.18%** is the average Google Ads conversion rate: leads divided by clicks.

[Source: LocaliQ, 2026](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/)

**$66.69** is the average [cost per lead](https://kihanmarketing.com/glossary/cost-per-lead/) for search ads in 2026.

[Source: LocaliQ, 2026](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/)

[LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) says clicks cost “a bit” more than the year before. Yet across all industries, cost per lead “decreased overall for the first time in five years.” Clicks cost a little more, but the conversion rate rose too, so more of them turned into leads.

## What Is the Average Google Ads Cost per Click by Industry?

The average Google Ads cost per click (CPC) runs from $3.22 for real estate to $9.87 for legal services, as of June 2026, per [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/). Those figures blend Google Ads and Microsoft Ads search campaigns. They come from the categories closest to local service businesses. The table shows click cost, click-through rate, conversion rate and cost per lead for each one.

LocaliQ has no category for HVAC, roofing, plumbing, property management or med spas. So the table names the nearest category for each. Those matches are our choice, not LocaliQ’s.

| LocaliQ category | Nearest local business | Avg CPC | Avg CTR | Conversion rate | Cost per lead | Source |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Home & Home Improvement | Roofing, HVAC, plumbing and other home services | $8.33 | 6.47% | 8.05% | $90.92 | [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) , 2026 |
| Attorneys & Legal Services | Law firms | $9.87 | 5.87% | 5.55% | $131.63 | [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) , 2026 |
| Dentists & Dental Services | Dental practices | $8.00 | 5.66% | 10.67% | $72.97 | [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) , 2026 |
| Real Estate | Real estate agents, and the closest fit for property management | $3.22 | 7.61% | 3.70% | $102.51 | [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) , 2026 |
| Beauty & Personal Care | Med spas (our main match) | $4.62 | 6.75% | 10.35% | $39.25 | [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) , 2026 |
| Physicians & Surgeons | Med spas (a check for medical treatments) | $4.76 | 6.61% | 12.43% | $40.04 | [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) , 2026 |
| Automotive Repair, Service & Parts | Auto repair shops | $4.35 | 5.56% | 15.51% | $29.96 | [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) , 2026 |
| All industries | Every business in the data | $5.42 | 6.64% | 8.18% | $66.69 | [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) , 2026 |

Three things stand out. Legal services have the highest click cost and the highest cost per lead of all 23 LocaliQ categories. Home services pay the second highest click cost. Real estate clicks are cheap, but only 3.70% of them turn into leads, so its cost per lead is one of the highest in the data.

## What Does a Lead Cost on Google Ads?

A search ad lead costs $66.69 on average across all industries in [LocaliQ’s 2026 data](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) for Google Ads and Microsoft Ads, as of June 2026. In the local categories above, it runs from $29.96 for auto repair to $131.63 for legal services, per [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/). LocaliQ counts a lead as someone who clicks your ad and contacts you “whether by phone, chat, form fill, or email.”

Your own cost per lead is simple math: a month’s ad spend divided by that month’s leads. Count only real leads from people who could buy.

**Cost per lead calculator**

- Monthly ad spend
- Leads that month

It divides your monthly ad spend by the leads you got, which gives your cost per lead.

Don’t judge an account by its click cost alone. Cliff Sizemore of LocaliQ puts it this way in the [2026 benchmarks](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/): “Focusing too much on cost per click can lead you to cheaper clicks that don’t convert.” A cheap click that never calls you costs more than a pricey click that books a job.

### What is a good cost per lead?

A good cost per lead is one that still leaves a profit once you close the job. That depends on what a customer is worth to you. [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) notes that for industries with a higher cost per lead, such as legal services, “it’s important to think about the average lifetime value of a customer.” Google gives the same advice. As of September 2026, its [Google Ads cost guide](https://business.google.com/us/resources/articles/how-much-google-ads-cost/) says to estimate lifetime value from “your average order value, closing rates, customer retention, and cost of service.”

## Why Do Google Ads Benchmarks Disagree?

Google Ads benchmarks disagree because they measure different things. Some report what advertisers actually paid in real campaigns. Others estimate what one keyword costs. Those two numbers are rarely close.

- **Campaign averages.** [LocaliQ’s](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) $5.42 average comes from real customer campaigns, as of June 2026. It blends cheap and costly searches.
- **Keyword estimates across a database.** [Backlinko](https://backlinko.com/how-much-does-google-ads-cost) puts the average Google search CPC at $8.34 and the median at $4.52 per click. Those figures come from over one million keywords in Semrush’s US database, as of July 2025. Backlinko adds that in every industry, “the median CPC is lower than the average.” A few very costly keywords pull the average up.
- **Single keyword estimates.** Tools like Ubersuggest price one search term on its own. High-intent terms such as “personal injury lawyer” sit far above any account average.

Here is what Ubersuggest estimates for common local searches. Each is one keyword across the US, not an account average.

| Keyword | Trade | Est. CPC | US searches a month | Source |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| roofing contractor near me | Roofing | $23.68 | 74,000 | [Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) |
| roof repair | Roofing | $37.22 | 74,000 | [Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) |
| hvac repair | HVAC | $32.44 | 60,500 | [Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) |
| plumber near me | Plumbing | $38.80 | 823,000 | [Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) |
| dentist near me | Dental | $13.35 | 1,830,000 | [Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) |
| personal injury lawyer | Law | $163.25 | 201,000 | [Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) |
| property management company | Property management | $11.73 | 60,500 | [Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) |
| real estate agent near me | Real estate | $9.48 | 49,500 | [Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) |
| botox | Med spa | $15.45 | 165,000 | [Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) |
| med spa near me | Med spa | $5.47 | 110,000 | [Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) |

Which number should you trust? A campaign average like LocaliQ’s shows what a whole account tends to pay. A keyword estimate shows which searches cost the most. Your own data beats both once you have it.

## How Is the Google Ads Cost per Click Calculated?

Your Google Ads cost per click is set in an auction each time someone searches. You pay only what it takes to beat the ad ranked just below yours. Google calls this your actual CPC.

Here is how it works, per [Google’s actual CPC page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/6297), as of October 2026:

- **Your bid is a ceiling.** Your max CPC bid is “the most you’ll typically be charged for a click.” You are often charged less, “sometimes much less.”
- **You pay to beat the next ad.** You pay “what’s minimally required to clear the Ad Rank thresholds and beat the Ad Rank of the competitor immediately below you.”
- **Position costs more.** Ads that show above the search results often cost more per click than ads below them.
- **Some settings can push past your bid.** Your actual CPC can go above your max CPC if you set a bid adjustment or use automated bidding.

### What decides your Ad Rank?

As of October 2026, [Google’s Ad Rank page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/1752122) lists several factors behind your Ad Rank. They include your bid, the quality of your ads and [landing page](https://kihanmarketing.com/glossary/landing-page/), the Ad Rank thresholds, how crowded the auction is, and the context of the search. Context covers things like the searcher’s location, device and time of day. Ad Rank decides whether your ad shows and where. Google adds, “even if your competition has higher bids than yours, you can still win a higher position at a lower price by using highly relevant keywords and ads.”

### Does Quality Score lower your cost per click?

No, not directly. As of October 2026, [Google’s Quality Score page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/6167118) says plainly that “Quality Score is not an input in the ad auction.” It is a 1 to 10 score that helps you spot weak ads, based on expected click-through rate, ad relevance and landing page experience. What does count is ad quality at auction time, built from those same three things. So higher quality ads can lower what you pay per click. Treat Quality Score as a warning light, not a target.

### Is there a Google Ads cost per click estimator?

Yes. Google Keyword Planner is Google’s own cost per click estimator. It shows a top-of-page bid range for each keyword. The low end is about the 20th percentile of what advertisers have paid for a top-of-page bid. The high end is about the 80th percentile, per [Google’s Keyword Planner help](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/3022575) as of October 2026. The ranges use the last 30 days of bid data for your location and network settings. They are estimates, so your real cost will vary.

## How Much Does Google Ads Cost per Month?

Google Ads costs as much per month as your budget allows, and Google sets no minimum. In the worked example below, a plumbing company that wants 20 leads a month lands at about $1,818 to $2,066 a month using [LocaliQ’s Home & Home Improvement figures](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/), as of June 2026. You set an average daily budget for each campaign. Google then follows two limits, per its [average daily budget page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/6385083), as of October 2026:

- **On any one day,** a campaign can spend up to two times its average daily budget, to catch busy days.
- **Over a month,** you never pay more than 30.4 times your average daily budget, for most campaigns. That is the average number of days in a month.

Google’s own example: with a $10 daily budget, the most you would pay in a month is $304 in total, per its [bid and budget guide](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/2375454) as of October 2026. If a campaign serves more clicks than your limits, Google says, per its [overdelivery page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/2375423), you will “never actually pay more than your spending limits.”

### How do you set a monthly Google Ads budget?

Start from the leads you want, then work back to clicks and dollars.

1. **Pick a lead goal.** Decide how many leads you want each month.
2. **Find your conversion rate.** Use your own if you have it. If not, use the LocaliQ rate for your category from the table above.
3. **Work out the clicks you need.** Divide your lead goal by your conversion rate, written as a decimal (0.08 for 8%). The calculator below takes the percent instead.
4. **Price the clicks.** Multiply those clicks by your average cost per click. That is your monthly budget.
5. **Set the daily budget.** Divide the monthly budget by 30.4, then enter that as the campaign’s average daily budget.

**Monthly Google Ads budget calculator**

- Leads you want each month
- Conversion rate in percent (8 for 8%)
- Average cost per click

It divides your lead goal by your conversion rate to get the clicks you need, then multiplies by your cost per click.

### A worked example for a home services business

Say a plumbing company wants 20 leads a month. It has no data yet, so it uses [LocaliQ’s Home & Home Improvement figures](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/), as of June 2026: an 8.05% conversion rate and an $8.33 average cost per click.

- **Clicks needed:** 20 leads divided by 0.0805 is about 248 clicks.
- **Monthly budget:** 248 clicks times $8.33 is about $2,066 a month.
- **Daily budget:** about $2,066 divided by 30.4 is about $68 a day. On a busy day, Google could spend up to about $136 (two times that), but the month never goes over 30.4 times the daily budget.

Now check it another way. [LocaliQ’s](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) average cost per lead for the same category was $90.92 as of June 2026. So 20 leads would cost about $1,818 at that rate. The two answers differ because LocaliQ works out each average separately, so they don’t multiply out exactly. Treat the two totals as your range. Start inside it, then swap in your own numbers as real leads come in.

## What Changes How Much You Pay for Google Ads?

Competition, location and timing, ad and landing page quality, bid strategy, match types and Search partners change how much you pay for Google Ads. You can change most of them.

### Competition and industry

Per Google’s [cost guide](https://business.google.com/us/resources/articles/how-much-google-ads-cost/), as of September 2026, “competition influences price.” Legal services and real estate “often see higher bids.”

- Hard to change: you face whoever else bids in your area

### Location and timing

Where and when people search matters. [Backlinko](https://backlinko.com/how-much-does-google-ads-cost) found “plumber near me” cost $62.67 per click in Austin, Texas, and $20.11 in Lincoln, Nebraska, as of January 2026.

- You control it with location targeting and ad schedules

### Ad quality and landing page

Better ads and a page that matches the search can win a higher spot for less.

- A fix that adds no ad spend

### Bid strategy

Smart Bidding sets bids for you. Per Google’s [Smart Bidding learning page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/13020501), as of October 2026, “tight targets, low daily budgets, or narrow targeting” can slow down campaign ramp-up.

- Pick one, then give it time before you judge it

### Match types and search terms

Loose keywords can show your ad for searches you would never pick. Ads that match [search intent](https://kihanmarketing.com/glossary/search-intent/) keep clicks useful.

- Worth a look every week in a new account

### Search partners

Google says Search partners “are included by default” in new Search campaigns. It adds that clicks from these sites “may not always reflect highly targeted traffic,” per its [Search Network page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/1722047) as of October 2026.

- You can turn them off in campaign settings, under Networks

## What Does Google Ads Cost for Roofers, Dentists, Lawyers and Other Local Businesses?

In [LocaliQ’s 2026 data](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/), as of June 2026, the average search ad lead costs $90.92 for home services, $72.97 for dentists and $131.63 for law firms. Of the trades below, law firms and home services pay the most per click, and the categories closest to med spas show the lowest cost per lead.

### Roofing and home services

Roofers, HVAC companies and plumbers fall under LocaliQ’s Home & Home Improvement category: $8.33 per click, an 8.05% conversion rate and $90.92 per lead, as of June 2026, per [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/). Single keywords run much higher. Ubersuggest puts “roof repair” at $37.22 per click and “roofing contractor near me” at $23.68 ([Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/)).

The point to watch: price the jobs you want, not the trade as a whole. Many trades also weigh [Local Services Ads](https://kihanmarketing.com/glossary/local-services-ads/), which charge differently. Our guide to [Local Services Ads and regular Google Ads](https://kihanmarketing.com/local-service-ads-vs-google-ads/) covers how each one charges. For more on roofing, see [roofing lead generation](https://kihanmarketing.com/roofing-marketing/roofing-lead-generation/) and our [roofing marketing budget guide](https://kihanmarketing.com/how-much-should-roofers-spend-on-marketing/).

### Dental practices

Dentists & Dental Services average $8.00 per click and $72.97 per lead in [LocaliQ’s 2026 data](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/), as of June 2026. Ubersuggest puts “dentist near me” at $13.35 per click, with about 1,830,000 US searches a month ([Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/)).

The point to watch: dental clicks turn into leads at 10.67% in [LocaliQ’s 2026 data](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/), well above the 8.18% average. So the landing page carries a lot of weight. A page that shows the treatment, your hours and a way to book can turn more of those costly clicks into patients. See [dental lead generation](https://kihanmarketing.com/dental-marketing/dental-lead-generation/) for how we approach it.

### Law firms

Attorneys & Legal Services have the highest averages in LocaliQ’s data: $9.87 per click and $131.63 per lead, as of June 2026, per [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/). Keyword estimates go far higher. Ubersuggest puts “personal injury lawyer” at $163.25 per click ([Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/)). [Backlinko](https://backlinko.com/how-much-does-google-ads-cost) found “dog bite lawyer san jose” costs around $229 a click, as of January 2026.

The point to watch: practice area matters more than anything else. Personal injury terms sit far above the legal averages above. Compare the cost per lead with what a case is worth to the firm. See [law firm lead generation](https://kihanmarketing.com/law-firm-marketing/law-firm-lead-generation/) for more.

### Property management

LocaliQ has no property management category. Its Real Estate category is the closest: $3.22 per click, a 3.70% conversion rate and $102.51 per lead, as of June 2026, per [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/). That category mixes many kinds of property searches, so treat it as a rough guide. Ubersuggest puts “property management company” at $11.73 per click ([Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/)).

The point to watch: keep owner searches and renter searches apart. [Owner leads](https://kihanmarketing.com/glossary/owner-leads/) bring new doors under management, while renters are looking for a home. They need separate ads, pages and budgets. See [Google Ads for property managers](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/property-management-google-ads/) for more.

### Real estate

Real Estate has one of the lowest click costs in [LocaliQ’s 2026 data](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/), at $3.22 per click, but a high $102.51 per lead, as of June 2026. [Backlinko](https://backlinko.com/how-much-does-google-ads-cost) also found real estate keywords cheap, at a $1.65 average CPC and a $0.60 median, as of July 2025. Ubersuggest puts “real estate agent near me” at $9.48 ([Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/)).

The point to watch: cheap clicks are not cheap leads. Only 3.70% of real estate clicks turn into leads in [LocaliQ’s data](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/), as of June 2026. Judge the account by cost per lead and closed deals, not by click cost. See [real estate lead generation](https://kihanmarketing.com/real-estate-marketing/real-estate-lead-generation/) for more.

### Med spas

LocaliQ has no med spa category. We use Beauty & Personal Care, because many treatments, such as facials, are bought as personal care: $4.62 per click and $39.25 per lead, as of June 2026, per [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/). Injectables are medical, so we also checked Physicians & Surgeons. [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) puts it close, at $40.04 per lead, as of June 2026. Some treatment keywords cost more. Ubersuggest puts “botox” at $15.45 per click, while “med spa near me” sits nearer the category average at $5.47 ([Ubersuggest US estimate, October 2026](https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/)).

The point to watch: group ads by treatment, so you can see which ones pay. See [med spa lead generation](https://kihanmarketing.com/med-spa-marketing/med-spa-lead-generation/) for more.

**Why take this from us**

Atisam Elahi, SEO Strategist at Kihan Marketing, wrote this guide. He works on SEO strategy for roofing and other local businesses, where paid and organic results compete for the same customers. Our team also runs Google Ads for local businesses. For a med spa client, a cryotherapy studio near Seattle, the Google Ads click-through rate went from 0.13 percent to 4.64 percent by summer 2026. Ad spend goes directly to the platform rather than through us.

## How Do You Lower Your Google Ads Cost per Lead?

You lower your cost per lead by paying for fewer wasted clicks and turning more clicks into real leads. Work through this list before you raise the budget.

- Compare Search lost impression share (budget), shown in Google Ads as Search lost IS (budget), with Search lost IS (rank) before you add budget. Per [Google](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/7103314), the first is ads missed for lack of budget. The second is ads missed for poor Ad Rank, which more money may not fix.
- Set up conversion tracking for calls and forms, so you know your real cost per lead.
- Call a sample of your form leads. One digital marketing consultant found [about 90% of the leads were fake](https://samfrost.co.nz/blog/google-ads-performance-max-campaigns-spam-leads-be-wary) in a client’s Performance Max campaign.
- Review the search terms you paid for, and add negative keywords for the ones that don’t fit your work.
- Decide whether to keep Search partners on, and review their cost per lead separately.
- Send each ad to a landing page that matches the search, with a clear way to call or book.
- Target only the area you serve, and run ads when you can answer the phone.

**Quick check: Is budget really your problem?**

1. Is your Search lost IS (budget) higher than your Search lost IS (rank)?
2. Are calls and form fills tracked as conversions?
3. Do most of the search terms you paid for match the jobs you sell?
4. Have you checked that your form leads are real people?
5. Is your cost per lead below what a lead is worth to you?

0 to 1 yesBudget is not your problem yet. Fix tracking, search terms and lead quality first.2 to 3 yesSome basics are in place. Close the gaps before you spend more.4 to 5 yesBudget may be what holds you back. Raise it in small steps and watch your cost per lead.

Google’s [cost guide](https://business.google.com/us/resources/articles/how-much-google-ads-cost/) notes, as of September 2026, “If your campaigns are profitable, your budget cap may become a profit cap.” That holds only once the checks above pass. 2. **Run the budget math.** Use the calculator above with your lead goal and your category’s numbers from the table.
3. **Track, then check.** Set up call and form tracking. After a few weeks, compare lost impression share from budget and from rank before you spend more.

## Google Ads Cost FAQ

Does Google Ads cost money to set up?No. Google says “Google Ads has no flat fees or monthly subscriptions,” per its [cost guide](https://business.google.com/us/resources/articles/how-much-google-ads-cost/) as of September 2026. You pay for the clicks on your Search ads. If someone else runs the account for you, their fee is a separate cost, covered on our [pricing page](https://kihanmarketing.com/pricing/).How much does Google Ads cost per day?Google Ads costs about your average daily budget each day, and you set that budget. On a busy day, Google can spend up to two times that amount. Over a month you never pay more than 30.4 times your average daily budget, per [Google’s overdelivery page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/2375423), as of October 2026.Is $10 a day enough for Google Ads?It is enough to test Google Ads, but it buys few leads in a busy local trade. Google’s own example shows a $10 average daily budget costs no more than $304 in a month, per its [bid and budget guide](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/2375454) as of October 2026. At [LocaliQ’s](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) Home & Home Improvement average of $8.33 per click, as of June 2026, that is about 36 clicks a month. At its 8.05% conversion rate, that is about three leads. Run the budget calculator above with your own numbers. Is $500 a month enough for Google Ads?It can be enough to test, but it buys only a few leads in many local trades. At [LocaliQ’s](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) Home & Home Improvement average of $90.92 per lead, as of June 2026, $500 covers about five leads a month. At the [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) legal average of $131.63 per lead, it covers about three or four. Those are averages, so run the calculator with your own numbers.Do you pay for Google Ads if nobody clicks? No, not for Search ads. Google says you “only pay when a user actually shows interest in your business by clicking on your ad,” per its [cost guide](https://business.google.com/us/resources/articles/how-much-google-ads-cost/) as of September 2026.Do you pay for fake or invalid clicks? No. Google says “You won’t be charged for invalid clicks or impressions,” per its [invalid clicks page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/42995) as of October 2026. Clicks found later are credited “where appropriate and possible.” This covers clicks, not fake form fills, so still check your leads. How long until Google Ads works?Your ads keep running while Google learns, but results take time to settle. Per Google’s [Smart Bidding learning page](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/13020501), as of October 2026, a “Learning” status “never lasts more than 7 days” in your account. After that, Smart Bidding “typically converges to your new goal within 1 to 2 conversion cycles” of your sales process. [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/) adds that with a new account or a small budget, “PPC is an investment, and it takes time.”Are Google Ads worth it for a local business?Google Ads are worth it when a lead costs less than it earns you. Find your cost per lead, then compare it with your average job value and close rate. As Brett McHale of Empiric Marketing told [LocaliQ](https://localiq.com/blog/search-advertising-benchmarks/), “You can manage higher CPLs if the bottom line is growing.”[**Want to see what your site brings in before you buy more clicks?** Send the address and we send back what it actually ranks for today, from Search Console, with the gaps marked.](https://kihanmarketing.com/marketing-audit/)
