# Columbus Web Design, Website Development and SEO

Plus AI search, Google Ads and local SEO, planned suburb by suburb

Kihan Marketing is a digital marketing agency. Businesses anywhere in Greater Columbus can hand us one job or all of them: the website, SEO, AI search, Google and Meta Ads, local SEO and social media. Roofers, med spas, property managers and brokerages get pages written to the Ohio and Columbus rules for their trade.

From Dublin to Pickerington, Columbus customers search by suburb and ask AI assistants who to call. Our job is to get your name into both, working remotely in accounts that stay yours.

## SEO services for Columbus businesses

We handle the technical [SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/seo/), schema markup, content and link building for Columbus businesses, then build a page for each service and each place you serve. Many of those places are cities in their own right that people search by name, such as Dublin, Westerville, Grove City and Reynoldsburg. Dublin has about 49,000 residents and Reynoldsburg about 43,000. Each one needs a page written about that city, not a copy with the name changed.

- Technical SEO and site audits
- Schema markup
- Content that answers real questions
- Link building
- Pages for each community you serve
- Search Console set up in your name

## Website design and development in Columbus

We design and build [websites](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/web-development/) on WordPress or Next.js, with custom code where a site needs it, and we take on redesigns, speed work and maintenance.

Our [ADA compliance](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/web-development/#ada-compliance) work tests a site against WCAG 2.2 at level AA, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. We fix what fails, then retest with a keyboard and a screen reader. It is technical work, not legal advice.

Lead forms are a separate matter. Ohio law can give a business a defense to some data breach claims. To qualify, the business must keep and follow a written cybersecurity program with administrative, technical and physical safeguards. The program must fit the size of the business and the data it holds, and reasonably conform to a recognized framework. A form that collects patient or tenant details belongs inside it.

- New websites and redesigns
- WordPress development
- Next.js, React and custom code
- ADA compliance (WCAG 2.2 AA)
- Speed work and maintenance

## AI search, ads, local and social in Columbus

### AI search

We work to get your business named in Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity, the work known as answer engine optimization (AEO) or generative engine optimization (GEO).

Google adds no special requirement for AI Overviews. Any page that is indexed and can show a snippet in Search is eligible, though not guaranteed a place. Google’s list of good practices also covers current Business Profile details. So each page answers what a Columbus customer might ask ChatGPT or Gemini. Does your crew work in Delaware County too? Is the rental near the Ohio State campus? Are you open on Ohio State game days?

### Google and Meta Ads

We manage pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns on [Google Ads](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/paid-ads/), and paid social on Facebook and Instagram. We can build TikTok and LinkedIn campaigns when they fit.

At the Columbus airport, about 103 nights a year fall to freezing or below and about 21 days reach 90 degrees or more. So for heating and cooling companies we plan budgets and landing pages around both winter and summer, not one busy season.

### Local SEO

We run [local SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/local-seo/) and the Google Business Profile itself: categories, services, hours, photos and a weekly review process.

A Columbus company with customers in Powell may want a second profile there. Google does not allow one at a virtual office, and you cannot tack Powell onto the name on your profile either. List Powell and the other suburbs you serve as service areas instead. A profile can have up to 20.

Columbus averages about 28 inches of snow a year. On a day snow keeps you closed, set special hours on the profile that morning.

### Social media

Our [social media](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/social-media/) work follows the Columbus calendar: the Arnold Sports Festival in early March, the Ohio State Fair in summer and Ohio State home games through the fall.

Our [brand design](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/brand-design/) work covers the logo, identity, guidelines and post graphics, so a game-day post and your website clearly come from the same business.

## How Greater Columbus splits local search

Local search in Greater Columbus splits by city line, by distance and by where the suburbs are growing, and the county map is a poor guide to any of it. The City of Columbus reaches into Franklin, Delaware and Fairfield counties, and some of the separate suburban cities around it cross county lines too.

1. **Two suburbs, five counties.** Dublin spills into Delaware and Union counties, and Reynoldsburg into Licking and Fairfield. A campaign fenced to Franklin County misses part of both cities, so we draw ad targeting and service areas around city lines instead.
2. **Distance shapes the map results.** Google weighs the distance between a business and the person searching. A Grove City company is unlikely to appear for someone in Westerville, almost 20 miles away, just because both are near Columbus.
3. **The growth is at the edges.** Delaware County has grown about 13 percent since 2020, more than four times as fast as Franklin County. Powell grew about 28 percent, while Upper Arlington and Westerville lost a little. The suburb that needs a page first is not always the biggest.

### Greater Columbus in numbers

- **938,396** people in the City of Columbus in 2025, ranked 15th among US cities
- **2.24M** people in the ten-county Columbus metro in 2025, up more than 21,000 in a year
- **228** square miles inside the city limits at the end of 2024, up from about 40 in 1950
- **62,010** students on Ohio State’s Columbus campus in fall 2026, near the city center

## Med spa, roofing, landlord and brokerage marketing in Columbus

Each of these trades answers to Ohio rules. Roofing jobs and rentals inside the city also fall under Columbus rules, for contractor licensing and for security deposits. We check the rule behind a page before we write it.

### Med spa and healthcare SEO

For Columbus med spas, we keep SEO, Google Ads and booking page claims inside ORC 4731.22(B)(5), which bars false expectations of results.

Under Ohio Medical Board rules, applying a light-based medical device to a patient counts as practicing medicine and surgery. A physician can never hand off that work for ablative procedures. The physician may pass non-ablative skin treatments with a vascular laser to a nurse or physician assistant, but only under set conditions. Among them, the physician sees and evaluates the patient first and is on site whenever a nurse does the treatment.

So a booking page should name who performs each laser treatment, rather than selling it as a walk-in spa service. The State Medical Board of Ohio can also discipline a physician for an ad likely to create "false or unjustified expectations of favorable results." Results claims and before-and-after photos have to stay inside that line.

OhioHealth, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Mount Carmel each had more than 8,000 full-time employees in Greater Columbus in 2024. An independent practice can compete on detail: the suburb it serves and the treatments it offers.

- Ohio rules: OAC 4731-18-02 and 4731-18-03
- Also: ORC 4731.22(B)(5)
- Services: Med spa SEO, Google Ads, booking pages

[Med spa SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/med-spa-marketing/med-spa-seo/)

### Roofing

We run roofing SEO, storm pages and Google Ads for Columbus roofers, with a storm repair page for each suburb they serve, from Hilliard to New Albany. In February 2024 an EF1 tornado ran from southwest of Hilliard toward Upper Arlington, leaving many homes with minor roof and siding damage. In April another EF1 north of New Albany caused roof damage in Delaware County. A roofer serving those suburbs should publish a storm repair page for each one well before the next storm.

Ohio has no state license for roofers. Inside the City of Columbus, contractors need a city license or registration before pulling permits or starting work. Residential roofing falls under the Home Improvement Limited Contractor license. A roofer who holds it can list it on the site and on its Business Profile.

- Ohio rule: No state roofing license
- Columbus rule: City Code Chapter 4114
- Services: Roofing SEO, storm pages, Google Ads

### Property management

Our property manager websites for Columbus put the City’s Renter’s Choice deposit options on listing and application pages and explain Ohio’s 30-day deposit notice. A Columbus landlord who charges a security deposit must tell tenants in writing how they can pay it. They can pay in full or choose installments due with the rent: a plan of at least three months, or one of at least six. Landlords with fewer than five rental units are exempt. For everyone else, those options belong on the listing and application pages, not only in the lease.

Ohio gives a landlord 30 days after the lease ends and the tenant moves out to deliver an itemized notice of any deposit deductions. Any balance still owed goes with it. The tenant has to give a forwarding address in writing. A move-out page can explain both steps plainly.

- Columbus rule: City Code 4551.04, Renter’s Choice
- Ohio rule: ORC 5321.16
- Our build: Property manager’s website

### Real estate

We build Columbus brokerage sites with listings, near-me pages and suburb guides, and fix the brokerage name Ohio requires into every page. Ohio’s advertising rule reaches every page of an agent’s site. Each page must show the brokerage’s name, no less prominent than the agent’s name. A team name must include "team" or "group" and cannot use "realty" or "associates".

Suburb guides cover places such as Upper Arlington or Gahanna. The brokerage name sits in the page template, so no page goes live without it.

- Ohio rules: OAC 1301:5-1-02 and 1301:5-1-21
- Our client: Real estate agency, Sint Maarten
- Result: Clicks 1,545 to 2,478, July to September 2026 against 2025

## How to choose the best digital marketing agency in Columbus

These five questions work on any agency that pitches you, including us. A good answer tells Grove City from Gahanna. A weak one only knows the name Columbus.

1. **Ask whose name is on the accounts.** The Google Ads account, Business Profile, analytics and domain should all be registered to you.
2. **Ask about Columbus and Ohio rules.** Anyone pitching property managers should know what Columbus’s Renter’s Choice rule asks landlords to offer. Anyone pitching med spas should know the conditions Ohio rule 4731-18-03 sets before a nurse uses a vascular laser.
3. **Ask which suburbs they would start with.** Dublin, Grove City and Reynoldsburg are three different searches. Listen for a first pick with a reason behind it, not a promise to cover the whole metro.
4. **Ask how the ads are aimed.** Unless the setting is changed, a Hilliard campaign can also reach people elsewhere who show an interest in Hilliard, such as through their searches. Ask whether yours is limited to people in Hilliard or regularly there.
5. **Read the reviews for specifics.** The useful ones name the job, such as a rebuilt site or a fixed profile, and what happened next. Kihan Marketing is rated 5.0 on Google.

## Your Columbus questions, answered

### Do you have an office in Columbus?

No. We work remotely, and every account stays under your own login, from Search Console and Google Ads to the Business Profile and the site itself. You can look over any change we make.

### Do you cover Dublin, Westerville and Grove City?

Yes. A suburb can have a page written for it, a spot among your profile’s service areas and ads aimed at it alone. One campaign for all of Columbus would treat them as a single market.

### Do you offer ADA compliance for Columbus websites?

Yes, as technical work. We test the site against WCAG 2.2 at level AA and fix what fails: color contrast, image descriptions, headings, form labels, focus order and captions. Then we check it again with a keyboard and a screen reader. We never add overlay widgets. It is not legal advice, and no one can promise a site will never be sued.

### What are AEO and GEO?

AEO stands for answer engine optimization and GEO for generative engine optimization. Both are about having your business named when an AI tool answers a question. A patient in Dublin might ask ChatGPT which med spa has a physician on site for laser work, and we write the page that answers it.

### Can Ohio homeowners cancel a contract signed at their door?

In most door-to-door sales, yes. Under Ohio law, the buyer can cancel within three business days, with the window closing at midnight on the third. The seller has to explain that right at signing and attach a cancellation form. Exclusions include a sale where the homeowner made first contact with a seller that regularly offers the work from a fixed place of business in Ohio. A roofer who knocks on doors in Hilliard or Upper Arlington after a storm needs that form in the paperwork. This is a summary, not legal advice.

### Should a Columbus business start with SEO or Google Ads?

Often both. Ads can reach fast-growing suburbs such as Powell right away, while new pages for them take months to climb. What the ads bring in shows which suburbs deserve a page first.
