# Indianapolis Web Design, Website Development and SEO

Plus AI search and Google Ads from Speedway to north of 96th Street

Kihan Marketing is a digital marketing agency for businesses in Indianapolis and the places around it, from Carmel and Fishers to Greenwood and Avon. We offer SEO, web design and development, AI search, Google and Meta Ads, local search and social media, with med spas and healthcare practices as a specialty.

The City of Indianapolis fills nearly all of Marion County, yet most of the metro’s growth since 2020 has landed in the counties around it. We work to get your business found in each county you serve, from Marion to Hamilton and Hendricks, on Google and in AI answers, with each account we set up registered to your business.

## SEO services for Indianapolis businesses

Our [SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/seo/) starts with what is broken on a site technically, then adds schema markup, content and links. Every service you sell gets its own page, and so does every place you serve.

Around Indianapolis, those place pages need the state in them. When we checked Google’s suggestions in September 2026, "roofing plainfield" offered New Jersey, Illinois and Connecticut as well as Indiana. "Med spa greenwood" brought up South Carolina and Mississippi beside Indiana. So we write Plainfield, Indiana, or Greenwood, IN, in titles and headings. Inside the city we name the district people use, such as Broad Ripple, Fountain Square or Irvington.

- Technical SEO and site audits
- Schema markup
- Content that answers real questions
- Link building
- Pages for each community you serve
- Search Console set up in your name

## Website design and development in Indianapolis

We design and build [websites](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/web-development/) on WordPress or Next.js, and write custom code where a site needs it. The platform follows from who will edit the site and how far it has to grow. Sites that are already running can come to us for a redesign, speed work or upkeep.

Indiana’s health care advertising law covers electronic statements as well as printed ones. When an ad names a practitioner, it must state that person’s profession or license prominently, in type that makes it readily apparent. On a clinic site we set the license right beside each provider’s name, on the bio and on every treatment page that names them.

Our [ADA compliance](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/web-development/#ada-compliance) work tests a site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, whether or not we built it. We fix what fails, then test again with a keyboard and a screen reader. It is technical work, not legal advice.

- New websites and redesigns
- WordPress development
- Next.js, React and custom code
- ADA compliance (WCAG 2.2 AA)
- Speed work and maintenance

## AI search, ads, local and social in Indianapolis

### AI search

We work to get your business named in Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity. That work is called answer engine optimization (AEO) or generative engine optimization (GEO).

Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode need no special optimization. To be linked from one, a page has to be indexed and eligible for a snippet in Search, and Google’s own advice includes an up-to-date Business Profile. So your pages spell out, one plain sentence at a time, what people around Indianapolis want settled before they call. Is the office in Carmel, or just south of 96th Street? Do you cover Speedway and Lawrence? Is the person doing the injections a nurse practitioner or a physician?

### Google and Meta Ads

We run pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns on [Google Ads](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/paid-ads/), and paid social on Facebook and Instagram. We can build TikTok and LinkedIn campaigns when they fit.

Each Memorial Day weekend the Indianapolis 500 brings over 300,000 visitors to Speedway. A person in another state planning that trip can count as interested in the area under Google Ads’ default location option, so a local campaign’s ads can reach them. For a med spa or a roofer, we hold campaigns to people located in, or regularly in, the business’s own service area.

When a business serves more than one county, Marion, Hamilton and Hendricks can each have their own campaign, budget and landing page. The Hamilton County ads then speak to Carmel and Fishers, and the Hendricks County ones to Plainfield and Brownsburg.

### Local SEO

We handle [local SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/local-seo/) and the Google Business Profile itself: categories, services, hours, photos and a weekly review process.

Township names repeat across this metro. Six of its eleven counties have a Washington Township, Marion and Hendricks among them. Three have a Franklin Township, and Franklin is also a city in Johnson County. So a page about a township names its county as well. If you drive to your customers, the profile takes up to 20 service areas, and each can be a town you cover.

On March 13, 2026, gusts reached 62 mph at Indianapolis International Airport, and numerous power outages followed across central Indiana. Google splits storm closures at a week. Six days or fewer go on the profile as special hours, and seven or more mean marking it temporarily closed.

### Social media

We manage [social media](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/social-media/) around the Indianapolis calendar. May is race month: the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon runs on May 8, 2027, the 500 Festival Parade on May 29, and the 111th Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 30. August brings Gen Con, from August 5 to 8 in 2027, and the Indiana State Fair. The Circle of Lights on Monument Circle, which celebrated 63 years in 2025, was held that year on the day after Thanksgiving.

Your logo, identity and guidelines come from our [brand design](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/brand-design/) work, and so do the graphics in each post and ad. A customer who first sees you in a Mini-Marathon post should know the business again on your site and your Business Profile.

## How the Indianapolis metro splits local search

Search around Indianapolis splits along town, township and county lines that often differ from the city map people picture. The Census Bureau counts 11 counties in the metro, and 45 percent of its people live in Marion County.

1. **Four places the city leaves out.** Lawrence, Beech Grove, Southport and Speedway sit inside Marion County but outside the Consolidated City of Indianapolis. The city’s contractor licensing and landlord registration stop at their borders, so a roofer or a landlord in Lawrence deals with neither.
2. **96th Street is a county line.** Carmel covers all of Clay Township, and its southern boundary is 96th Street, where Hamilton County meets Marion County. Along that stretch, north is Carmel and south is Indianapolis. A business just south of 96th Street has Carmel customers close by, so its pages and ads have to reach across the county line.
3. **Hendricks County has no cities.** All 12 of its incorporated places are towns, among them Plainfield, Brownsburg and Avon, and 38.5 percent of its residents live in none of them. In Johnson County, the unincorporated part of White River Township alone holds about 30,900 people. Pages for customers like these name the township and the nearest town. Hamilton County is the opposite: about 95 in 100 residents live in a city or town, so pages there can go city by city.

### Central Indiana in numbers

- **2.21M** people in the Indianapolis-Carmel-Greenwood metro in 2025, by Census Bureau estimate
- **2.6x** Hamilton County’s population gain since 2020, measured against Marion County’s
- **88** Indiana tornadoes in 2026 through September 10, against an average of 22 a year (NWS)
- **17,519** parcels listed on the Indianapolis landlord registry in 2025, up from 13,427 in 2024

## Four Indiana trades and the laws their marketing answers to

Each of these four trades has Indiana rules on licensing or advertising, and inside the City of Indianapolis, contractors and landlords have city rules as well.

### Med spa and healthcare SEO

Since Indiana’s 2026 law keeps med spa treatment in the spa’s own office, our Indianapolis SEO, Google Ads and booking pages offer no home visits.

Indiana’s 2026 medical spa law requires a med spa that gives prescription drugs by injection or IV to register with the Medical Licensing Board from January 1, 2027. The application asks for the spa’s website address and its responsible practitioner, and the board must keep a public database of registered spas.

The same law bars a med spa from treating clients anywhere but its own office, except for education or training. So its site and ads should not offer visits to homes, workplaces or events. Its advertising must also follow IC 25-1-10.3, and the board can suspend a registration that breaks it.

- Indiana rule: Senate Enrolled Act 282 (2026)
- Also: IC 25-1-10.3, health care advertising
- Services: Med spa SEO, Google Ads, booking pages

### Roofing

Our roofing SEO, storm pages and Google Ads for roofers around Indianapolis sell the inspection and the roof, never help with the deductible or the claim. Late on March 31, 2023, an EF-3 tornado with peak winds of 140 mph moved through a neighborhood near Whiteland, in Johnson County, and multiple homes had major roof damage. In July 2024 an EF-2 touched down near Lapel, crossing Hamilton and Madison counties. Storm pages for those counties belong on a roofer’s site before spring.

Indiana bars a contractor from advertising, offering or promising to pay any part of an insurance deductible. That includes a discount on the contract price and any gift, bonus or referral fee, even one paid for putting a sign on the property. The same section bars a contractor from acting as a public adjuster, so a roofer’s pages sell the inspection and the roof, not help with the claim.

Indiana lets a homeowner cancel a home improvement contract until midnight on the third business day after signing. On an insurance job, that deadline runs from the insurer’s written decision on the claim instead, if the decision comes later. Inside the City of Indianapolis, construction work also needs a listed contractor under the city’s Section 875-101.

- Indiana rules: IC 24-5-11-10.5 and 10.6
- Storms: Whiteland EF-3, March 2023
- Services: Roofing SEO, storm pages, Google Ads

### Property management

Indianapolis property managers get a website from us that covers state licensing, the city’s landlord registry and the topics state law settles for every town. In Indiana, renting or managing real estate for a fee takes a real estate license. The exceptions are narrow, such as an owner who manages no more than twelve apartment units on one parcel or on parcels that touch. So we build a management company’s site and ads the way we build a brokerage’s.

The City of Indianapolis requires owners to register residential rental units with Business and Neighborhood Services. The city’s registration asks a management company for a separate form for each owner it represents, and for a manager contact residing in Indiana. Short-term rentals have also needed an annual city permit for each unit since January 1, 2025.

State law bars counties, cities, towns and townships from making their own rules on tenant screening, security deposits, lease applications, lease terms and landlord fees, unless the legislature has allowed it. So a manager’s answers on those topics rest on state law, not on each town’s code.

- Indiana rule: IC 25-34.1-3-2
- Indianapolis: Landlord registry, Chapter 851
- Our build: Property manager’s website

### Real estate

For brokers in Indianapolis, Carmel and Fishers we build listing and agent page templates that show the broker company’s name the way Indiana requires. Under the Indiana Real Estate Commission’s rule, any sign, business card or internet ad that carries a broker’s name must show the broker company’s name clearly. A thumbnail, text message or short post may leave it out only if it links to a page that shows it.

An ad may not identify the broker by only a phone number, a post office box or a street address. No broker may advertise a property for sale, lease or rent without the written consent of the owner or the owner’s agent. Posts and ads then point buyers to those pages.

Carmel and Fishers each have more than 100,000 residents in the Census Bureau’s 2025 estimates. Each deserves its own area pages, not a line on an Indianapolis page.

- Indiana rule: 876 IAC 8-1-8
- Our client: Real estate agency
- Result: Clicks 1,545 to 2,478, July to September 2026 against 2025

## How to choose the best digital marketing agency in Indianapolis

Whoever wants your SEO, website or ad budget, us included, should be able to answer these five. A good reply names Indiana rules and real places such as Speedway, Carmel or Plainfield.

1. **Ask whose name is on the accounts.** Your analytics, Business Profile, Google Ads account and domain should all belong to your business, so you keep them if you leave.
2. **Test them on an Indiana rule.** A med spa owner can ask what changes on January 1, 2027. A roofer can ask what Indiana says about insurance deductibles in ads.
3. **Ask where Indianapolis ends.** Listen for Speedway and Lawrence, which sit in Marion County outside the city, and for 96th Street as Carmel’s southern edge.
4. **Ask where the ads will show.** A careful answer explains the location setting and how the campaign is held to Marion County and the towns you actually serve, not everyone who has looked up Indianapolis.
5. **Read the reviews for specifics.** A review that says what was built or what got fixed is worth more than a row of five stars.

## Your Indianapolis questions, answered

### Do you have an office in Indianapolis?

No. We work remotely, inside accounts you own: your website, Search Console, Google Ads and Business Profile. You can log in at any time and see every change we make.

### Do you work in Carmel, Fishers, Greenwood and the other suburbs?

Yes. That includes the Hamilton County cities of Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Westfield, Greenwood in Johnson County, and the Hendricks County towns of Plainfield, Brownsburg and Avon. Each town you serve can have its own page and its own ad targeting, and the page title says Indiana so it is not confused with a Greenwood or Plainfield in another state.

### Is Speedway part of Indianapolis?

Not as a city. Speedway is a town just under six miles west of downtown, and one of four places in Marion County that the City of Indianapolis does not include. Visit Indy still lists it among Indy’s neighborhoods, so a Speedway business page should carry both names.

### Do you do ADA compliance work on Indianapolis websites?

Yes, as technical work. The site is checked against WCAG 2.2 at level AA, first with automated tools and then by a person using only a keyboard and a screen reader. The usual fixes are color contrast, missing image descriptions, heading order, unlabeled form fields, focus order and captions. We never add an overlay widget. This is not legal advice, and nobody can promise a site will not be sued.

### What changes for Indiana med spas in 2027?

From January 1, 2027, a med spa that gives prescription drugs by injection or IV needs to be registered with the Medical Licensing Board to do business in Indiana. The board must keep a public database of registered spas, with the website address and responsible practitioner from each application. So the site’s address and the practitioner it names should match what was filed.

### What are AEO and GEO?

Answer engine optimization and generative engine optimization mean the same thing here: work that helps ChatGPT, Perplexity or a Google AI Overview mention your business. Picture someone in Westfield asking an assistant for a roofer who serves Westfield, not just Indianapolis. If your service page says in plain words that you cover Westfield, Noblesville and Fishers, the assistant has a sentence it can use.

### Should an Indianapolis business start with SEO or Google Ads?

Usually both. Paid clicks can start the week a campaign goes live, while organic pages usually need months to climb. The ads’ search terms also show which towns people type, such as Fishers, Plainfield or Greenwood, and those become the next pages we write.
