# Louisville Web Design, Website Development and SEO

Plus AI search and Google Ads on both sides of the Ohio River

Kihan Marketing is a digital marketing agency for businesses in Louisville and Southern Indiana. We handle SEO, web design and development, AI search, Google and Meta Ads, local search and social media, with med spas and healthcare practices as a specialty.

Louisville is one metro government with dozens of small cities inside it, and Indiana is just across the river. Whichever side your customers search from, we work to have Google and AI assistants send them to you. All of it is done remotely, in accounts that belong to you.

## SEO services for Louisville businesses

Our [SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/seo/) work covers site audits and technical fixes, schema markup, content and link building. Each service you offer and each place you serve gets its own page.

In Louisville those pages have to say Kentucky. Google’s suggestions for "med spa louisville" include the Louisvilles in Colorado and Mississippi. A search for a med spa in Middletown suggests New York and New Jersey before Kentucky. So we write Louisville, KY, and name the neighborhood or small city, such as the Highlands, St. Matthews or Jeffersontown.

- Technical SEO and site audits
- Schema markup
- Content that answers real questions
- Link building
- Pages for each community you serve
- Search Console set up in your name

## Website design and development in Louisville

We design and build [websites](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/web-development/) on WordPress or Next.js, with custom code where a site needs it. Which one depends on who will edit the site and how big it may get. We also redesign, speed up and maintain sites that are already live.

Kentucky makes some trades print a license number in their ads. Under KRS 198B.670, a master heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor’s license number must appear in all of its advertising. On an HVAC site we put it in the header or footer, so every page shows it.

Our [ADA compliance](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/web-development/#ada-compliance) work tests a site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, including sites we did not build. We fix what fails, then test again with a keyboard and a screen reader. It is technical work, not legal advice.

- New websites and redesigns
- WordPress development
- Next.js, React and custom code
- ADA compliance (WCAG 2.2 AA)
- Speed work and maintenance

## AI search, ads, local and social in Louisville

### AI search

We work to get your business named in Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity. That work is called answer engine optimization (AEO) or generative engine optimization (GEO).

Google says there is nothing extra to do to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode. A page only has to be indexed and able to show with a snippet, and Google’s tips include keeping the Business Profile current. So we write plain answers into your pages for questions only a Louisville customer would ask. Do you come to Jeffersonville, or only the Kentucky side? Is that Jeffersontown, Kentucky, or Jeffersonville, Indiana? Who supervises the laser hair removal?

### Google and Meta Ads

We run pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns on [Google Ads](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/paid-ads/), and paid social on Facebook and Instagram. We can build TikTok and LinkedIn campaigns when they fit.

A customer in New Albany or Jeffersonville searches from Indiana, not Kentucky. We give each side of the river its own campaign, budget and landing page, so the ad a New Albany customer sees names New Albany.

Google Ads is set by default to include people who are merely curious about Louisville, such as someone in another state planning a Derby trip. For a clinic, a roofer or a leasing office, we limit it to people physically in, or regularly in, the towns you cover.

### Local SEO

We handle [local SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/local-seo/) and the Google Business Profile itself: categories, services, hours, photos and a weekly review process.

A virtual office cannot hold a Business Profile, so a Louisville company should not rent a Jeffersonville mailbox to look local in Indiana. If it goes to its customers, it adds the Indiana towns it serves as service areas. Either way, each town should have its own page.

When the Ohio flooded in April 2025, Louisville’s Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) sealed floodwall openings at 2nd, 10th and 27th streets, Bingham Way and Port Road. If a flood keeps you closed for six days or fewer, set special hours on the profile. For a week or more, mark it temporarily closed.

### Social media

We manage [social media](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/social-media/) around the Louisville calendar. Thunder Over Louisville comes in April, before the first Saturday in May. In 2027 the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby fall on April 30 and May 1. The Kentucky State Fair runs August 19 to 29, 2027, at the Kentucky Exposition Center. The St. James Court Art Show takes over four square blocks of Old Louisville on the first weekend of October.

Our [brand design](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/brand-design/) service makes the logo, the identity and its guidelines, and the graphics your posts and ads use. The site, the profile and the feed then look like one business.

## How the Louisville metro splits local search

Local search in the Louisville metro splits across the Ohio River, and inside Jefferson County between small cities and communities with no city hall. The metro is 12 counties, eight in Kentucky and four in Indiana, and Jefferson County, one government with the city since 2003, holds more than half the people.

1. **Tolls on three bridges.** Jeffersonville, Clarksville and New Albany sit across the Ohio from Louisville, in Clark and Floyd counties, Indiana. The two I-65 bridges downtown and the Lewis and Clark Bridge between Prospect and Utica carry tolls. The I-64 Sherman Minton Bridge does not. For a searcher in New Albany, a Louisville address is across the river, and Google counts that distance in its local results. A map listing cannot move, but pages written for the Indiana towns give a Louisville business another way to be found there.
2. **Cities inside the city.** Louisville Metro covers all of Jefferson County, yet St. Matthews, Jeffersontown, Shively and Lyndon are cities with their own governments inside it. A shop in St. Matthews is in St. Matthews and in Louisville at once, and Google’s suggestions show people searching both ways. So its page uses both names.
3. **Communities with no city hall.** A 2023 study for the commission reviewing the city-county merger put about half of Jefferson County’s 2020 population in its unincorporated area. Places such as Fern Creek, Okolona, Fairdale and Pleasure Ridge Park have no city government of their own. So a page or a service area names the community itself.

### Greater Louisville in numbers

- **83** small cities, each with its own city government, inside the Louisville Metro government
- **281,424** people in the Louisville metro live in its four Indiana counties, by 2025 Census estimate
- **79 mph** gust measured at Louisville’s Bowman Field in the historic windstorm of March 3, 2023
- **26.1 mi** of floodwall and levee in the system that guards 110 square miles of Louisville Metro

## Marketing for Louisville med spas, roofers, property managers and brokerages

Kentucky sets the licensing and advertising rules for these trades, and Louisville Metro adds its own for landlords.

### Med spa and healthcare SEO

Every "Dr." in the SEO, Google Ads and booking pages we write for Louisville med spas carries its MD or DO, as KRS 311.375 requires.

Under KRS 311.375, a provider who uses "Dr." in a listing, ad or sign must also name the doctor degree, such as MD or DO. In ads and on signs, the degree must be at least three quarters the size of the title. We write provider bios, ads and the Business Profile that way.

The Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure has an opinion on laser surgery, which it says is not law. It expects the supervising physician on site for delegated laser and pulsed light work. Laser hair removal is the exception, though every patient still needs a responsible physician. A treatment page can say who that is.

- Kentucky rule: KRS 311.375, use of "Dr."
- Also: Board of Medical Licensure laser opinion
- Services: Med spa SEO, Google Ads, booking pages

### Roofing

For Louisville roofers we build SEO, storm pages and Google Ads that sell the inspection and the roof, never a claims or insurance specialist. Just after midnight on April 3, 2025, an EF-3 tornado ran through eastern Jefferson County. It went from Watterson Trail past the I-64 and I-265 interchange to Long Run Road. Storm and wind damage pages belong on a Louisville roofer’s site before spring, not after.

Since July 15, 2026, a Kentucky contractor may not market itself as a claims specialist or an insurance specialist. Nor may it claim any affiliation with an insurer or an insurer’s agent. That is how the Kentucky Department of Insurance sums up a 2026 act. So a roofer’s site sells the inspection, the estimate and the roof, and makes none of those claims.

On insurance-paid work, the owner can cancel if the insurer gives written notice that some or all of the claim is not covered. The deadline is midnight on the fifth business day after that notice arrives. The contractor may not require an advance payment until that period has passed. So an insurance page should not ask for a deposit to book the job.

- Kentucky rules: KRS 367.622, 367.626 and 367.628
- Storms: EF-3 tornado, April 2025
- Services: Roofing SEO, storm pages, Google Ads

### Property management

We build websites for Louisville property managers that keep rental ads within Metro’s fair housing ordinance and match the details on the rental registry. In Kentucky, managing property for others for a fee is real estate brokerage, so a property management company needs a real estate license. The Real Estate Commission’s advertising rule covers rentals too: a licensee needs the owner’s written consent before advertising a property for lease.

Louisville Metro’s fair housing ordinance bars rental ads that signal discrimination on a long list of grounds. They include lawful source of income, conviction or arrest history and homeless status. That ad ban applies even to the small owner-occupied rentals the ordinance otherwise exempts.

Owners register rental units with Louisville Metro, and the form asks for the responsible managing operator’s name, address, phone and email. A manager’s details should read the same there, on the website and on the Business Profile.

- Kentucky rule: KRS 324.010 and 324.020
- Louisville Metro: Rental registry, Chapter 119
- Our build: Property manager’s website

[Property management marketing](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/)

### Real estate

For Louisville brokerages and teams we set up sites, ads and profiles so the brokerage name is never smaller than an agent’s or a team’s. In a Kentucky real estate ad, an agent’s name or a team’s name may not appear larger than the brokerage’s name. A team name must end with the word "team" or "group".

A video ad, a listing reel included, must say or show the brokerage’s name at the start. And an agent may not promote a home listed by another brokerage without that principal broker’s written consent.

We build a brokerage’s listing and neighborhood pages with these name rules in the template, and point its posts and ads at those pages. Louisville’s visitors bureau lists Southern Indiana among the city’s neighborhoods. So a page for a New Albany or Jeffersonville home should also say it is in Indiana.

- Kentucky rule: 201 KAR 11:105, Sections 1, 3 and 4
- Our client: Real estate agency
- Result: Clicks 1,545 to 2,478, July to September 2026 against 2025

## How to choose the best digital marketing agency in Louisville

Put these five questions to anyone pitching your SEO, website or ads, us included. An answer that could be about any city is a warning sign. A good one names Kentucky rules and places on both sides of the Ohio.

1. **Ask what you keep if you leave.** You should walk away with your analytics, your Business Profile, your Google Ads account and your domain, each in your business’s name.
2. **Ask a Kentucky question about your trade.** A med spa owner can ask what KRS 311.375 requires when a provider is called "Dr." in an ad. A roofer can ask what a Kentucky contractor may no longer call itself since July 15, 2026.
3. **Ask which bank they would start on.** Louisville, Jeffersonville and New Albany are separate searches in two states. Listen for which side gets pages first, and why.
4. **Ask who would see a Louisville ad.** Left on Google’s default setting, a campaign can also reach people elsewhere who have only shown interest in Louisville. A good answer narrows it to people in the towns you serve.
5. **Look past the star rating.** Reviews that describe a site built or a problem fixed say more than the stars do.

## Your Louisville questions, answered

### Do you have an office in Louisville?

No. We work remotely. Your website, Search Console, Google Ads and Business Profile stay registered to your business. Log in whenever you like to see each change we make.

### Do you work in Southern Indiana and the outer counties too?

Yes. Across the river that means Jeffersonville, Clarksville and New Albany. In the outer Kentucky counties it means places such as La Grange and Crestwood in Oldham County, or Mount Washington and Shepherdsville in Bullitt County. We can give each town you serve its own page and aim ads at it.

### Is Jeffersontown the same place as Jeffersonville?

No. Jeffersontown is a Kentucky city inside Louisville Metro, in Jefferson County. Jeffersonville is across the Ohio River in Clark County, Indiana, and has nearly twice as many people. Kentucky also has a small Jeffersonville of its own, in Montgomery County, far to the east. A page or profile should spell out the name and the state.

### Do you do ADA compliance work on Louisville websites?

Yes, as technical work. Automated checks against WCAG 2.2 at level AA come first. Then someone works through the site using just a keyboard, and again using a screen reader. We fix what fails, most often contrast, image descriptions, headings, form labels, focus order and captions. We never install overlay widgets, and this is not legal advice. Nobody can guarantee a site will never face a lawsuit.

### Can one Business Profile cover both sides of the river?

Yes, for a business that goes to its customers. Google asks such a business to keep one profile, for its central office, with a service area. That area can list up to 20 places, so towns in Clark and Floyd counties can sit beside Louisville neighborhoods. Its outer edge should be no more than about two hours’ drive from the business.

### What are AEO and GEO?

They are two names for one kind of work: getting ChatGPT, Perplexity or an AI Overview to name your business in its answer. Someone in Clarksville might ask which Louisville roofers also work in Indiana. A service page that lists the Indiana towns you cover gives the assistant something to quote.

### Should a Louisville business start with SEO or Google Ads?

Usually both. Ads can bring calls from both sides of the Ohio soon after launch, while new pages take months to rank. What people type before they click an ad tells us which town or service needs a page next.
