# New Orleans Web Design, Website Development and SEO

Plus AI search and Google Ads on both banks and across the lake

Kihan Marketing is a digital marketing agency for businesses in New Orleans, Metairie and the Northshore. Our work covers SEO, website design and development, AI search, Google and Meta Ads, local search and social media. Med spas and healthcare practices are a specialty.

Greater New Orleans searches by neighborhood, by bank of the river and by side of the lake. Our job is to have Google and AI assistants name your business for those searches. We do it remotely, in accounts that stay in your name.

## SEO services for New Orleans businesses

Our [SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/seo/) work covers technical fixes, schema markup, content and link building, with a page for each service you offer and each place you serve.

New Orleans is searched by neighborhood and by side of the river. Type "apartments westbank" and Google suggests "apartments westbank new orleans". Type "med spa new orleans" and it suggests "day spa new orleans french quarter". So a page names the place a customer would type, such as Uptown, Lakeview, Algiers or the West Bank.

The Northshore needs the same care. Google’s suggestions for "roofing northshore" run to Traverse City and Thunder Bay, so a Northshore page also names Covington, Mandeville or Slidell.

- Technical SEO and site audits
- Schema markup
- Content that answers real questions
- Link building
- Pages for each community you serve
- Search Console in your name

## Website design and development in New Orleans

We design and build [websites](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/web-development/) on WordPress or Next.js, with custom code where a site needs it. The choice depends on who will edit the site and how far it needs to grow. Redesigns, speed work and maintenance are part of the job too.

One Louisiana rule reaches clinic websites. Under R.S. 51:413, an ad for a health service that uses "Doctor" or "Dr." with a person’s name must also give their degree, unless the title is part of their legal name. The statute covers ads in any form, so on a clinic site we write the degree beside each provider’s name.

Our [ADA compliance](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/web-development/#ada-compliance) work tests a site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, including sites we did not build. We fix what fails, then test again with a keyboard and a screen reader. It is technical work, not legal advice.

- New websites and redesigns
- WordPress development
- Next.js, React and custom code
- ADA compliance (WCAG 2.2 AA)
- Speed work and maintenance

## AI search, ads, local and social in New Orleans

### AI search

We work to get your business named in Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity. That work is called answer engine optimization (AEO) or generative engine optimization (GEO).

Google’s guidance asks for no special markup or files to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode. The page must be indexed and eligible for a snippet, and Google lists a current Business Profile among its tips. So we put direct answers on your pages to the questions a New Orleans customer asks. Do you come to the West Bank? Are you open on Mardi Gras day? Is a physician on site during laser treatments?

### Google and Meta Ads

We run pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns on [Google Ads](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/paid-ads/), and paid social on Facebook and Instagram. We can build TikTok and LinkedIn campaigns when they fit.

Unless you change it, a Google Ads campaign also reaches people who have only shown interest in the places it targets. For a French Quarter tour or a restaurant, travelers planning a trip may be exactly the audience. For a roofer in Metairie or a clinic in Kenner, we limit ads to people in, or regularly in, the parishes you serve.

The Northshore gets its own campaign and a landing page for the towns across the lake, so a Covington searcher is not sent to a Metairie page.

### Local SEO

We handle [local SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/local-seo/) and the Google Business Profile itself: categories, services, hours, photos and a weekly review process.

Google does not give a Business Profile to a virtual office, so a rented address across the lake will not put a Metairie company on the Northshore map. If it travels to its customers, it can add up to 20 service areas within about two hours’ drive and give each one a page.

Louisiana’s holiday law lists the day of Mardi Gras among its legal holidays. If you close or change your hours for it, set special hours on the profile before Fat Tuesday. After a storm, a closure of six days or fewer also goes in as special hours. A week or longer calls for marking the profile temporarily closed, Google says.

### Social media

We plan [social media](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/social-media/) around the New Orleans calendar. Carnival season runs from Twelfth Night, January 6, to Fat Tuesday, February 9, 2027. French Quarter Festival fills the Vieux Carré from April 8 to 11, 2027. Jazz Fest then takes over the Fair Grounds for two long weekends, April 22 to 25 and April 29 to May 2.

Our [brand design](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/brand-design/) service covers the logo, the identity and its guidelines, and the graphics your posts and ads use. The website, the profile and the feed then look like one business.

## How greater New Orleans splits local search

Greater New Orleans search splits by the river, by the lake and by unincorporated places such as Metairie that people search like cities. Louisiana has parishes, not counties: federal metro definitions put seven in the New Orleans-Metairie metro and give St. Tammany, across Lake Pontchartrain, a metro of its own.

1. **East Bank and West Bank.** The Mississippi splits the map. Jefferson Parish lists its civic associations and garbage pickups by East Bank and West Bank, and keeps a government building on each side. New Orleans reaches across the river too: Algiers is part of the city, a ferry ride from the foot of Canal Street. People type "westbank" into Google as a place, so a page names the bank as well as the town.
2. **Metairie is not a city.** Metairie has more residents than the city of Lafayette, yet the Census counts it as a census designated place with no city government. Jefferson Parish has six incorporated cities and towns, among them Kenner, Gretna and Westwego. Metairie, Marrero, Harvey and Terrytown are not among them, though the Census names each one as a place. Google suggests "med spa metairie" and "property management metairie" as people type, so a business that serves these places gives each one a page.
3. **The lake sets the Northshore apart.** Covington, Mandeville and Slidell sit across Lake Pontchartrain in St. Tammany Parish, which its tourism site calls The Northshore. Google’s local results weigh how far a business is from the person searching, and the lake lies between a Metairie office and a Covington customer. So that business reaches Northshore customers mainly through pages about those towns, rather than through the map.

### Greater New Orleans in numbers

- **3 in 4** Jefferson Parish residents live outside any incorporated city or town
- **72** neighborhood statistical areas in the city’s open data, first drawn by its planning commission
- **24 mi** across Lake Pontchartrain on the Causeway, between the south shore and the Northshore
- **19.46M** visitors to New Orleans in 2025, by New Orleans & Company’s count

## What Louisiana’s medical, contractor and real estate boards mean for your marketing

Louisiana writes its own rules for each of these trades, from who may use a medical laser to what a roofer may call itself in an ad.

### Med spa and healthcare SEO

Med spas, plastic surgery practices and independent clinics on both sides of the lake get SEO, Google Ads and a booking page from us. We plan all three around the Louisiana rules below.

Louisiana law lets only people licensed to practice medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry or podiatry perform laser surgery. The Board of Medical Examiners treats cosmetic laser and chemical skin treatments as medicine. When a physician delegates them, the Board expects the physician to be on the premises. A treatment page can say who performs the work and who supervises it.

In 2024 the Board said every IV hydration patient needs a proper history and examination first. It calls standing orders for IVs unlawful and says a patient may not simply pick from a preset menu. So an IV clinic’s page books the evaluation, not a drip chosen from a list.

- Louisiana rule: R.S. 37:1274.1, laser surgery
- Also: Board of Medical Examiners IV statement, 2024
- Services: Med spa SEO, Google Ads, booking pages

### Roofing

We build storm pages, roofing SEO and Google Ads for New Orleans roofers that sell the inspection and the roof, never claim help. Hurricane Ida came ashore in Lafourche Parish on August 29, 2021. The National Weather Service recorded gusts of 113 mph in New Orleans and 110 mph in Mandeville. Storm damage and roof replacement pages belong on a roofer’s site well before hurricane season, not after the next storm.

Since January 1, 2026, anyone who advertises or bids on residential roof work at or above a set project value must hold the Residential Roofing or Residential Construction classification. Since August 1, 2026, roof work on a building with up to four homes in it counts as residential.

A Louisiana contractor may not advertise as an insurance claims specialist or offer to interpret a policy. Act 757 of 2026 also bars a roofer from soliciting or accepting an assignment of a property owner’s insurance benefits after a loss. So a roofer’s pages sell the inspection and the roof, and offer no help with the claim.

- Louisiana rules: R.S. 37:2156.4 and 37:2159.1
- Storms: Hurricane Ida, August 2021
- Services: Roofing SEO, storm pages, Google Ads

### Property management

Property managers on both shores of Lake Pontchartrain get a website from us, with the broker details Louisiana’s internet ad rule asks for on every page. Louisiana’s license law counts managing, renting or leasing property for others for a fee as real estate activity, and advertising that service counts too. Unless an exemption applies, that takes a Real Estate Commission license. The Commission’s internet rule then reaches a manager’s website. Each page with an ad must show the broker’s name, the city and state of the office, and where the broker is licensed.

Nearly half of occupied homes in Orleans Parish are rented, against about one in five in St. Tammany. So a manager with homes on both shores is writing for many renters on one side and mostly owners on the other.

Since August 1, 2026, a landlord who keeps part of a deposit has up to one month and fifteen days after the tenancy ends to send the itemized statement. A move-out page should give the dates the law now allows.

- Louisiana rule: R.S. 37:1431 and 37:1436
- Also: LAC 46:LXVII.2515, internet ads
- Our build: Property manager’s website

[Property management marketing](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/)

### Real estate

For New Orleans brokerages we build area pages on the neighborhood map New Orleans & Company uses, each with the broker’s name and phone number. In Louisiana, every ad by a salesperson or associate broker must show the sponsoring broker’s name and phone number where the public can easily see them. A team name needs the broker’s approval, and everyone named on the team must be sponsored by that broker.

Printed ads for selling or leasing a home must show the month and year they came out. An agent who offers a property for sale or rent and has any ownership interest in it must say in the ad that they are a licensed real estate agent.

New Orleans & Company’s neighborhood guide lists Metairie/Kenner and the Westbank as neighborhoods, beside Uptown, Mid-City and Lakeview.

- Louisiana rule: LAC 46:LXVII.2501, 2507 and 2511
- Our client: Real estate agency
- Result: Clicks 1,545 to 2,478, July to September 2026 against 2025

## How to choose the best digital marketing agency in New Orleans

Whether you are hiring for SEO, a website or ads, ask anyone who pitches you these five questions, us included. A good answer names Louisiana rules and places on both banks and both shores. If an answer would work just as well for Houston or Memphis, keep asking.

1. **Ask whose name is on the accounts.** Your Google Ads, Business Profile, analytics and domain should belong to your business, so you keep them if you leave.
2. **Test them on Louisiana law for your trade.** A med spa owner can ask what the Board of Medical Examiners expects when a laser treatment is delegated. A roofer can ask what a Louisiana contractor may not call itself in an ad.
3. **Ask where they would start.** Metairie, the West Bank and the Northshore are separate searches. Ask which one they would build pages for first, and why that one.
4. **Ask who will see the ads.** A good answer says whether a campaign reaches people in the parishes you serve or anyone who has shown interest in New Orleans.
5. **Read what the reviews say.** Look for reviews that name the work itself, such as a site rebuilt or a profile put right, not only a star rating.

## Your New Orleans questions, answered

### Do you have an office in New Orleans?

No. We work remotely, inside accounts you own: your website, Search Console, Google Ads and Business Profile. Every change we make shows up in those accounts, and you can log in whenever you like.

### Do you work in Metairie, the West Bank and the Northshore?

Yes. Metairie and Kenner sit on the East Bank, Gretna and Marrero across the river, and the Northshore towns across the lake. Each place you serve can have its own page and its own ad targeting.

### Is Metairie part of New Orleans?

No. The city of New Orleans and Orleans Parish share one boundary. Metairie is next door in Jefferson Parish and has no city government, so the parish governs it. A page or profile for a Metairie business should say Metairie, not only New Orleans.

### Do you do ADA compliance work on New Orleans websites?

Yes. We run automated checks against WCAG 2.2 at level AA, then go through the site with only a keyboard and again with a screen reader. The usual fixes are color contrast, image descriptions, headings, form labels, focus order and captions. We do not install overlay widgets. This is technical work rather than legal advice, and no one can guarantee a site will never face a lawsuit.

### What are AEO and GEO?

Answer engine optimization and generative engine optimization: getting your business named when ChatGPT, Perplexity or a Google AI Overview answers a question. A Harvey homeowner might ask which roofers work on the West Bank. Put the West Bank towns you cover on the service page, and the assistant has a list it can quote.

### Should a New Orleans business start with SEO or Google Ads?

Often both. Ads can bring in calls soon after launch, while a new page for Metairie or the West Bank takes months to rank. The searches behind the ad clicks show which of those pages to write first.
