# Salt Lake City Web Design, Website Development and SEO

Plus AI search, Google Ads and med spa SEO built on Utah rules

Kihan Marketing is a digital marketing agency for businesses across the Salt Lake Valley, from Salt Lake City and West Valley City to Sandy and Draper. We cover SEO and AI search, website design and development, Google and Meta Ads, local SEO and social media. Med spas and healthcare practices are a specialty.

A business in Millcreek or Holladay can have a Salt Lake City mailing address, and its customers may search for either name. We help each business get found under the name its customers actually use, on Google and in AI answers.

## SEO services for Salt Lake City businesses

We handle [SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/seo/) from the technical audit and schema markup to the content on each page and the links that point to it.

Salt Lake City recognizes community councils for its neighborhoods, from Rose Park and Glendale to Sugar House and the East Bench. Sugar House turns up in Google’s suggestions next to a service, as in “dentist sugar house”. So a business gets a page for each neighborhood it really works in, describing the jobs it does there.

Some names belong to more than one state. Google’s suggestions for “dentist millcreek” include Millcreek, Pennsylvania, so a Millcreek business’s pages name Utah in the title and the text.

- Technical SEO and site audits
- Schema markup
- Content that answers real questions
- Link building
- Pages for each community you serve
- Search Console in your own account

## Website design and development in Salt Lake City

We design and build [websites](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/web-development/) on WordPress or Next.js, and write custom code when a site needs it. We pick the platform by how big the site will get and who on your team will edit it. Redesigns, speed fixes and ongoing maintenance are on the list as well. A business that serves several valley cities gets a page for each one. A Draper page, for example, can speak to customers on both the Salt Lake County and Utah County sides of the city.

Our [ADA compliance](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/web-development/#ada-compliance) work checks a site against WCAG 2.2 at level AA with automated tools, a keyboard and a screen reader, then fixes what fails and checks again. That goes for sites we build and for sites built by others. It is technical work, not legal advice.

- New websites and redesigns
- WordPress development
- Next.js, React and custom code
- ADA compliance (WCAG 2.2 AA)
- Speed work and maintenance

## AI search, ads, local and social in Salt Lake City

### AI search

Answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) are the work of getting your business named in Google’s AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity, and we do both.

Google says a page needs nothing extra to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode: it only has to be indexed and able to show a snippet. So we write short answers an assistant can quote. They answer what valley customers ask, such as whether you work in Magna or Herriman, and which licensed provider supervises the laser treatments.

### Google and Meta Ads

We run pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns on [Google Ads](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/paid-ads/), and paid social on Facebook and Instagram. We can build TikTok and LinkedIn campaigns when they fit.

Salt Lake, Davis and Utah counties are growing at very different rates. So each county gets its own budget, and the targeting inside it follows the cities you serve.

By default, Google also shows a campaign to people who have only shown interest in the places it targets. For a local service we turn that off and reach people who are in the area or regularly there.

### Local SEO

We run [local SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/local-seo/) and look after the Google Business Profile: its categories, services, hours, photos and service areas, plus a review routine every week.

The Postal Service’s default city for ZIP codes 84109 and 84117 is Salt Lake City. It also accepts Millcreek for both, and Holladay and Murray for 84117. So one business can end up listed under two city names. We choose one form of the address and use it the same way on the site, the profile and every directory.

A business that goes to its customers can list up to 20 service areas on its profile, so a Holladay plumber can name Millcreek, Murray and Cottonwood Heights.

### Social media

We plan [social media](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/social-media/) around the Salt Lake calendar. The Utah Arts Festival is at Library Square in June. The Days of ’47 parade marks Pioneer Day downtown each July, on or around the 24th. In winter, inversions trap pollution over the valley.

For [brand design](https://kihanmarketing.com/services/brand-design/) we make the logo, the identity and guidelines, and the graphics that posts and ads are built from, so the site, the Business Profile and the feed read as the same business.

## How the Salt Lake Valley splits local search

Local search in the Salt Lake Valley splits among cities newer than many searchers expect, by distance down the valley, and at county lines that some cities cross. The Census Bureau’s Salt Lake City-Murray metro is just Salt Lake and Tooele counties, and Salt Lake County alone holds more than 20 cities and towns.

1. **Four townships became cities in 2024.** Under a 2024 state law, Kearns, Magna, White City and Emigration Canyon became cities on May 1, 2024, and Copperton became a town. Millcreek had already voted to become a city. Each can need its own page when a business works there.
2. **Distance shapes the map.** Google’s local results weigh relevance, distance and popularity. Sandy is about 15 miles south of Salt Lake City, so a Salt Lake City business can drop out of the map for a customer searching there.
3. **The edges cross county lines.** North of the county line, Bountiful and North Salt Lake belong to Davis County; to the south, Lehi belongs to Utah County. Draper sits on both sides: by 2025 Census estimates, 3,493 of its 50,652 residents live in Utah County. So service pages and ad targeting follow the cities you serve, even where a city crosses a county line.

### Salt Lake Valley in numbers

- **17.9%** of Salt Lake County’s 1.22 million residents live in Salt Lake City itself (Census, 2025)
- **10,882** people in Salt Lake County lived outside any city or town in 2025, down from over 250,000 in the 1980s
- **2,590** earthquakes located around Magna from March 2020 to February 2021 (University of Utah)
- **15.2%** growth in Utah County since the 2020 census, five times Salt Lake County’s 3.0%

## Utah rules behind med spa, roofing, rental and brokerage marketing

In Utah, nonablative cosmetic treatments such as laser hair removal come with rules on who supervises them and what the patient is told in writing. Those rules shape a med spa’s site and ads. Utah also has its own rules for roofing contractors, for anyone who manages rentals and for real estate licensees.

### Med spa and healthcare SEO

Utah Code 58-1-501.6 counts websites as ads, so our SEO, Google Ads and booking pages for Salt Lake City med spas state each license.

Under Utah Code 58-1-506, a patient having a nonablative cosmetic procedure, such as laser hair removal, must get written information with the name and licensing details of the supervisor and of the person doing the treatment. We put the same names on the provider pages, so the website and the paperwork agree.

Utah Code 58-1-501.6 counts websites as advertising. An ad for a health care provider’s services that gives the provider’s name must state the license type they practice under. So every bio and ad that names a nurse or physician says which license they hold.

Google’s suggestions for “botox salt lake” include masseter and TMJ Botox. So each of those treatments gets a page of its own rather than a line on a menu.

- Utah rule: Utah Code 58-1-506
- Also: Utah Code 58-1-501.6 on health care ads
- Services: Med spa SEO, Google Ads, booking pages

### Roofing

In the Salt Lake Valley, our roofing SEO, service-area pages and Google Ads give each S280 service a page and keep deductible offers out of the ads. Utah’s S280 Roofing Contractor license classification covers shingles, tile, slate and roof membranes, plus non-electrical skylights and insulation. A contractor licensed under it can give each of those its own service page.

Utah Code 13-50-302 bars a residential contractor from rebating any part of an insurance deductible to win a job. Section 13-50-303 requires that warning, in capitals, on every written contract, estimate or work order paid from an insurance policy. So ads for storm and insurance work should leave the deductible out.

The magnitude 5.7 earthquake of March 2020 did its worst damage in Magna. Salt Lake City’s Fix the Bricks program retrofits unreinforced brick homes built before 1975 for low-income owners. Roof-to-wall connections and chimney bracing come first. The program is currently closed. A contractor licensed for that bracing can give it a page of its own, written for owners of older brick homes.

- Utah rules: Utah Code 13-50-302 and 13-50-303
- License: S280 Roofing Contractor
- Services: Roofing SEO, service-area pages, Google Ads

### Property management

For Salt Lake City property managers we build websites that tell owners which Utah license the company holds and start listings with the city’s own neighborhoods. Utah is adding a property manager license. From January 1, 2027, managing someone else’s residential rentals takes that license or a broker or sales agent license. The date has already moved twice. A manager’s site should tell owners which of those licenses the company holds.

Utah law gives a landlord 30 days after a tenant moves out to return the deposit, with a written, itemized list of anything kept. A resident FAQ can say so in one line.

More Salt Lake City households rent than own: 54 percent, against 34 percent across the county. So a manager’s listing pages start with the city’s own neighborhoods.

- Utah rule: Property manager license from January 1, 2027
- Market: 54% of occupied Salt Lake City homes rented
- Our build: Property manager’s website

### Real estate

We build Salt Lake City agent and team sites, listing pages and post templates, each naming the brokerage as it appears in the Division of Real Estate’s records. In Utah, a licensee’s real estate ads must name the brokerage clearly and conspicuously, as the name appears in the Division of Real Estate’s records. Where an online ad has no room for it, the ad must link straight to a page that shows it. Teams follow the same rule, so the brokerage name goes into every team site, listing ad and post template.

Neighborhood guides cover places such as Sugar House, Cottonwood Heights and Draper, and Facebook and Instagram posts and ads send buyers to them.

- Utah rule: Utah Admin. Code R162-2f-401h
- Our client: Real estate agency, Sint Maarten
- Result: Clicks 1,545 to 2,478, July to September 2026 against 2025

## How to choose the best digital marketing agency in Salt Lake City

Whether you are hiring for SEO, a new website or Google Ads, ask every agency on your list these five questions, us included. What they say back shows whether they know the valley or only its name.

1. **Ask whose accounts the work lives in.** The Google Ads account, Business Profile, analytics and domain should be registered to you, and stay with you if you part ways.
2. **Ask a Utah question.** A med spa agency should know what Utah Code 58-1-506 says a patient gets in writing, and a roofing agency what 13-50-302 forbids.
3. **Ask about your address.** If your business is in Millcreek or Holladay, they should know which city name your listings use, and why.
4. **Ask how the budget splits by county.** Salt Lake, Davis and Utah counties are growing at different rates, and your ads should reach people who are really there.
5. **Ask to see pages, not only rankings.** A good agency can show a page it wrote for one valley city, such as Herriman or Bountiful, and explain what on it would not fit the city next door.

## Your Salt Lake City questions, answered

### Do you have an office in Salt Lake City?

No. We work remotely, and always inside accounts that belong to you: Google Ads, the Business Profile, Search Console and the website. You see every change as we make it.

### Is it only Salt Lake City, or also Millcreek, West Valley City and Sandy?

All of them. We plan pages, service areas and ad targeting for each valley city you serve, not one page for the whole valley. That is because Google’s local results weigh how far a business is from the person searching.

### My Millcreek business has a Salt Lake City mailing address. Which city should the listings use?

The Postal Service accepts both names for some ZIP codes, such as 84109. Pick one form of the address and use it the same way on the site, the Business Profile and every directory. Then name the other city on the site, so customers searching for either one can find you.

### Do you do ADA compliance work on Salt Lake City websites?

Yes. We check the site against WCAG 2.2 at level AA, then fix the failures we find: low contrast, missing image descriptions, heading order, form labels, keyboard access and captions. We retest every fix using only a keyboard, then a screen reader. We do not use overlay widgets. It is technical work rather than legal advice, and no one can guarantee a site will never be sued.

### What does a Utah med spa have to give patients in writing?

For a nonablative cosmetic procedure such as laser hair removal, Utah Code 58-1-506 requires written information with the name and licensing details of the supervisor and of the person doing the treatment. The patient also gets a phone number that is answered within 24 hours for follow-up, and the supervisor’s name must be posted at the facility.

### Are Kearns and Magna still townships?

No. A 2024 state law, H.B. 35, made Kearns, Magna, White City and Emigration Canyon cities on May 1, 2024, and made Copperton a town. The Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District still provides their city services.

### Should a Salt Lake City business start with SEO or Google Ads?

Often both at once. Ads can bring calls from Sandy or Bountiful as soon as a campaign is live, while the pages for those cities are written and indexed. The ads also show which searches turn into customers, so the pages go where the demand is.
