# Website Migration

Moving a property management website without losing what it earned

A property management website migration moves your company from an AppFolio, Rentvine, PMW or template site to a site of your own, without throwing away the search traffic the old one earned. Kihan Marketing handles the move, with old pages redirected and your domain, Google Business Profile and analytics kept in your name.

## What does a property management website migration include?

Every plan from Kihan Marketing includes the move, so it is part of the build and not an extra.

- **A list of what earns traffic.** Every page that gets search traffic or links, written down before launch.
- **Redirects.** Each of those pages keeps its address or redirects to the page that replaces it.
- **Titles that work.** Carried over to the new site.
- **A check after launch.** We look at Search Console once the new site is live.
- **Your accounts.** Domain, Google Business Profile and analytics stay in your name.

## How do you keep rankings during a migration?

A site can lose rankings when pages that rank vanish or change address without a redirect, so we keep the addresses that earn traffic where we can and redirect the ones that change.

[Google's guide to site moves](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/site-move-with-url-changes) recommends permanent server-side redirects from old URLs to new ones. It also says rankings can move around for a while as Google recrawls the site. No rebuild can promise rankings, but a careful move avoids the avoidable losses.

## Which sites can you move from?

AppFolio, Rentvine, PMW and template sites. Moving your website does not mean leaving your software: it keeps running your units, rents and applications, and the new site shows them. How that works on each platform is on our page on [property management software integrations](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/property-management-software-integrations/).

## A migration you can open

[A Seattle property manager](https://kihanmarketing.com/projects/pacific-crest-real-estate/) came to us with the five-page site that came with AppFolio. We rebuilt it to more than 250 pages, with a page for every property it manages.

What a rebuilt site should hold is on [property management website design](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/property-management-website-design/), and apartment communities are on [multifamily website design](https://kihanmarketing.com/multifamily-marketing/multifamily-website-design/).

## Questions about moving a property management website

### Will I lose my Google rankings if I change my website?

You can, if pages that rank vanish or change address without a redirect. Each page that earns traffic should keep its address or redirect to the page that replaces it. Rankings can move around for a while as Google recrawls the site, and no rebuild can promise them.

### Do I have to leave AppFolio to move my website?

No. AppFolio stays the system of record and the website is the part that changes. On WordPress, [AppFolio Listings Pro](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/appfolio-listings-pro/) draws your listings on your own pages.

### Do I keep my domain?

Yes. Your domain, Google Business Profile and analytics stay in your name.

### How long does a migration take?

A property management company site goes live 10 business days after your prep is in. A community site goes live in 5.

### How much does it cost?

The move is included in every plan. A property management company site is $6,000 and a community site is $3,600, each paid in four monthly parts. The [full price list](https://kihanmarketing.com/pricing/#price-pm-web) compares every plan.
