# Property Management Website Design

Kihan Marketing designs and builds property management websites, with a page for every property you manage and pages written for owners, so your company is found by the owners who hire you and the renters who lease from you. Your software keeps running your rentals.

## What is a property management website, and who builds one?

A property management website is the public website of a management company. Owners looking for a manager, renters looking for a home and vendors looking for work all check it before they call.

Kihan Marketing builds them on WordPress or Next.js, on your own domain, most often by rebuilding the template your software came with.

## Why a page per property matters for search

Every building you manage has a name, an address and a neighborhood, and each is something a person types into Google. If none of your buildings has a page, a listing portal usually gets those searches.

How the search side works is on [property management SEO](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/property-management-seo/).

## What is the difference between a template site and a rebuilt property management website?

A template site shows listings and takes applications, in a layout every company on the same software shares. A rebuilt site keeps your software in charge of rentals and adds a page per property, owner pages, your own design and new lead forms.

| Compared on | Template site from your software | Rebuilt site |
|---|---|---|
| Pages | A handful, often with a link out to the listings | A page for every managed property, plus pages for owners |
| Design | The layout every company on the same software shares | Your brand, your layout and your calls to action |
| Listings and applications | Come from your software | Still come from your software, shown on or linked from your own pages |
| Owners | Often one paragraph and a contact form | Pages on what you manage, how you report and how maintenance gets handled |
| A search for a building's name | Often lands on a listing portal | Lands on that property's page on your own domain |
| Platform | The software's website editor | WordPress or Next.js |

## AppFolio site rebuilds, and the other platforms

The job is the same whichever template you start from: AppFolio's, [RentCafe's](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/rentcafe-yardi-websites/) or ShowMojo's.

- **A page for every managed property.** On your own domain, with its amenities, features and photos.
- **Owner pages of their own.** What you manage, how you report and how maintenance gets handled.
- **Your design, not the template's.** Your brand, your layout and your calls to action.
- **Calls to action and lead forms, rebuilt.** A renter on a property page can reach the leasing team right there, and an owner inquiry reaches a person.
- **Your software stays in charge of the rentals.** Units, rents, availability dates and applications stay where they are.

On AppFolio, [AppFolio Listings Pro](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/appfolio-listings-pro/), the WordPress plugin we wrote, draws your public listings in your design. The rest of that work is on [websites for AppFolio managers](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/appfolio-property-management-websites/).

## What we'd look at first on your site

We start a project by checking five things on your current site, because the answers decide how much of the site needs rebuilding.

- How many of your managed properties have their own page on your domain?
- When you search a building's name, which site shows up first?
- Does an owner find a page written for them, or a resident portal with a contact form?
- Does your apply flow start on your site, or hand the visitor to a page that doesn't look like it?
- Which questions does your leasing team answer on the phone that the site could answer instead?

## Questions property managers ask about their websites

### What is the best platform for property management website design?

The right platform is the one that gives every managed property its own page on your domain, takes your design instead of a shared layout, and leaves your software in charge of rentals. WordPress is the practical choice for most companies that want a page for every property. It takes your design, your team can edit it, and on AppFolio it can run a listings plugin such as AppFolio Listings Pro. Next.js suits a custom build with a developer behind it, with listings coming through a custom integration.

Your software's own builder, such as AppFolio Sites or Buildium's hosted template site, is quick to start and already connected to your rentals, but it limits pages and design. Squarespace or Wix can work for a short brochure site that links out to your software's listings page. Be wary of anyone who names one platform as the winner for SEO. What search engines find is the page for each building, on whichever platform holds it. We rebuild on WordPress or Next.js.

### Who designs the best websites for property management companies?

No independent ranking settles it, and some "top agency" lists are written by a firm that ranks itself first. Judge the work instead. Look for a designer that shows live property management sites you can open, writes owner pages as well as renter pages, and gives every managed property its own page on your domain. Then search the name of a building on one of those sites and see whether its own page comes up. Kihan Marketing rebuilds sites that started on AppFolio, RentCafe (Yardi) and ShowMojo templates.

### How much does a property management website cost?

Property management and apartment websites from Kihan Marketing cost $3,600 for a community site and $6,000 for a company site with a page for every community, paid in four monthly parts, and they go live 5 or 10 business days after your prep is in. Hosting with us is an extra $75 a month on the Care and Care Plus plans and included in Care Pro at $650 a month, or you keep your own hosting.

The [full price list](https://kihanmarketing.com/pricing/#price-pm-web) compares every plan, and our [website packages](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/website-packages/) cover a company site and its community sites at a fixed price.

### What should a property management website include?

A property management website should include a page for each managed property with its amenities, features and photos; owner pages on management, reporting and maintenance; separate paths for owners, residents and vendors; calls to action and lead forms on every property page; and links to the listings and portals your software runs. For owner leads, also add plain words on what your fees cover, an owner inquiry form that asks for the address and unit count, reviews from owners, and a phone number an owner can call.

A longer build checklist is in our post on [what matters in property management website development](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-website-development-what-actually-matters-in-2026/).

### How do you create a property management website?

Start from what owners and renters search for. Give every managed property its own page on your domain, with its amenities, features and photos. Then design the brand, the calls to action and the lead forms around it.

### Should I build my own property management website or hire an agency?

Build it yourself if a short brochure site is enough and your software's listings page does the rest. Hire help when you need a page for every property, owner content that has to be written, several community sites kept distinct, or a rebuild that cannot lose the search history your current site has.

### Will a rebuilt site still work with my property management software?

Yes. Your software stays the system of record: units, rents, availability dates, photos and applications live there, and your leasing team keeps working in it. The rebuilt site gives each property its own page on your domain and links to the software's listings and portals for anything that changes daily.

### How do I add owner and tenant portals to my website?

Link to them rather than rebuild them. Owner and resident portals come with your property management software, which keeps the logins, statements, rent payments and maintenance requests. The website gives each audience a clear path: owner pages and an owner login, and a resident page with the rent and repair links.

### How do I optimize a property management website for local SEO?

Give every managed property its own page with its address, neighborhood, amenities and photos, and give each city you serve an owner page. Keep the company name, address and phone the same on the site and on your Google Business Profile, and add structured data so search engines can read each page.

### How does AppFolio work with a website?

AppFolio works with a website as the system of record: unit records, rents, availability dates, photos and applications live in AppFolio, and the website shows them. AppFolio also offers a website template. When a site outgrows the template, we rebuild it on your own domain, and AppFolio stays the system of record. On WordPress, the listings can be drawn onto your own pages with a plugin; the three ways to do it are in our guide to [showing AppFolio listings on WordPress](https://kihanmarketing.com/guides/appfolio-listings-wordpress/).

### Do you only rebuild AppFolio sites?

No. RentCafe (Yardi) and ShowMojo ship website templates too, and the rebuild is the same job: your own design, a page for every property, and your software left in charge of the rentals. Our pages on [RentCafe and Yardi websites](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/rentcafe-yardi-websites/) and on [integrating other property management software](https://kihanmarketing.com/property-management-marketing/property-management-software-integrations/) cover the details. If you are weighing a move off AppFolio, our guide to [AppFolio alternatives](https://kihanmarketing.com/appfolio-alternatives/) compares the other platforms, and our comparisons of [AppFolio vs Buildium](https://kihanmarketing.com/appfolio-vs-buildium/) and [AppFolio vs Yardi](https://kihanmarketing.com/appfolio-vs-yardi/) cover how each platform's own website options work.
