Ahead of Virginia’s January 2027 notice rule on roof claim solicitations, we build roofing SEO, storm pages and Google Ads for Richmond roofers. From January 1, 2027, Virginia’s Residential Property Owners Protection Act covers door hangers, flyers, calls and emails that encourage a homeowner to contact a contractor about making an insurance claim for roof damage. A roofer who solicits a homeowner this way must state three things. The homeowner pays the deductible. No contractor may act as a public adjuster without authorization. Waiving a deductible violates the Virginia Consumer Protection Act. The notice must be in 12-point type or at least half the size of the largest type used, whichever is bigger. The act also bars offering a gift, credit or waived deductible in exchange for a roof inspection or a claim.
Bidding on or doing contracting work without the Virginia license the job requires is a Class 1 misdemeanor. The Board for Contractors also bars any contracting ad with a false, deceptive or misleading statement, so warranty and licensing claims on a roofer’s site have to be true.
When Gaston crossed Virginia on August 30, 2004, its heaviest rain centered on the Richmond area and caused a major flash flood that killed eight people, by the National Weather Service’s account. Storm and leak pages need to be live, with their ads ready, before the next one.
